The Tale of the Sea

Age makes you wiser, they say. It was true. He had seen generation grow up, prosper and die.

He had seen civilizations rise.

He quietly watched as they

Found peace in waters of his

Shallow self.

He treasured every smile he received,

Was happy to give us

The peace we all need.

But there were dark time, when

He cringed as the Earth quivered,

As that was the time he was forced

to rise, to destroy lives.

It would then make him think

of much happier times.

Times he was happy with what

he gave and what he found.

We wrote our secrets, in the wet sand,

Every time he was gracious enough,

To hide them all.

He grew fond of the messages

that the world wrote, he carried

the secrets that no one else knows.

He liked taking away secrets from

the ones burdened by them, hide

them forever, never speak of

them again.

He longed for a meeting with his

lost love, the shoreline.

They met for a second but then

he was pulled back, this cycle

of pain seemed to go on and on.

He lived with pain as he knew

Nothing would exist if his

Forbidden wish came true.
